Moora police enforce automatic suspension laws

DURING the early hours of Saturday morning at about 2.30am a man drove his vehicle off the road about 20 kilometres west of Moora on the Dandaragan Road just west of Kolburn Road.

The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the Moora Hospital and later conveyed by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) to Royal Perth Hospital.

On Saturday night officers carried out their first arrest under new legislation for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, which means if people are pulled over by police and breathalysed for DUI 0.08 they will have an automatic two-month suspension.

A woman from Karawara, who was later bailed, blew in excess of 0.08.

On Saturday afternoon at about 3.30pm five juvenile boys were caught trespassing at the Moora Primary School.

Two of the juveniles were caught on the roof of the building.

As a result four juveniles have been summoned to the Moora Children’s Court and one boy was issued with a juvenile caution.

On Friday night two men were charged with theft from the Moora Hotel bottle shop.

One of the offenders entered the bottle shop while the attendant was busy, helped himself to a bottle of alcohol and walked away from the premises.

Officers were called to the hotel and after investigation they did a search of patrons and discovered a man in possession of the alcohol which he had concealed down the front of his trousers.

There was also a disorderly conduct disturbance in Lenane Street, the south-western corner of Moora.

Just after midnight police were alerted by concerned residents in Lenane Street that a female was yelling and screaming in the street, apparently to no one in particular, creating a disturbance.
