IN THE first week of last recent school holidays, three players from the Moora Men’s Hockey Association were nominated to play in the Under 15s Regional Championships team.
The grounds at Curtin University provided an opportunity for the boys to play on turf as opposed to grass fields.
Lachlan Pattison, Patrick Hughan and Beau Timmins successfully represented Moora from where they were selected from a wide field of players to participate.
The boys realised their potential and also the privilege to participate at a higher level of hockey playing alongside team members from sparse country areas other than Central Midlands and competing against teams from regions all over the state.
Both country and city regions were inclusive of the Regional Championship competition from which players were chosen to nominate for selection to play at state level within their particular age levels.
The Country team found themselves by the end of the competition a competitive bunch of contenders.
Three members of the team were also selected to trial for state.
The coach Leon Temby (Avon) provided an atmosphere where the boys were able to display their skills in chosen positions.
Kim Fowler (Geraldton) managed the team with minimal fuss.
