Barry Fennell chalks up great score at Lakeview

IN WARM conditions last weekend golfers at Moora Lakeview played on a course that had some good coverage on the fairways but the saying “just add water” was apt.

Fifteen ladies played Jubilee Fours and the winners were Debbie Glover and Edna Tripp returning 37 points.

Runners-up on a countback were Carol Piper and Wendy Cousins with 36 points from Pam Kelly and Shirley O’Brien.

Well done to all golfers on playing the challenging game.

The novelties were won by Martha Simpson No 4 and Pam Kelly No11.

Best second on No 3 was Margaret Nothdurft and Karyn Bryan.

Best third shot No 9 was Glover and Tripp. Mary McGillivray and Alison McPherson won novelties on No 16 and No 12 .

The women are travelling to Miling for the district championships on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week.

On August 4 it is the fourth round of Silver Spoon, the Cousins putting competition and the Moora Building and Timber trophy.

Fifteen men played Stableford for Waltons Trophy on July 22 and many good scores were returned.

Winner on the day with a great score of 44 points was Barry Fennell on a countback from Tom Nothdurft.

Good to see Fennell with a win, retirement must be to his liking.

The novelties were won by Tom Nothdurft No 2, Robert Nothdurft No 4, Peter Vanderende No 11 and Murray Douglas on No 14.
