A COMMUNITY clean-up of Coolangah Park was organised on the June long weekend by the Moora Yorga’s Aboriginal Association.
Recent events taking place in the park had led to it being unsafe for children to play in as so much broken glass was scattered over the ground.
The Moora Yorgas are taking positive steps to get the community to engage and move forward and events such as cleaning up the park is a move in the right direction.
“The idea behind our group is to try and get people in the community to be proud of their town and work together to make it a good place for everyone to be,” June Headland said.
“One of the suggestions that have been brought forward is to ask the Shire of Moora to help get better lighting for the area.”
Helpers at the park clean-up were Delores Jetter, Delores Yappo, Belinda Shea, June Headland, Kevin Headland, Ros Drayton, Raylene Winmar, Yvonne Anderson, Victor Yates, Sonia Chad and numerous children.
A sausage sizzle lunch followed the busy bee at Apex Park.
