CENTRAL Midlands Netball Association team took out the open division 5 at the Smarter than Smoking Association Carnival in Perth on the June long weekend.
More than 220 teams from around the state attended the weekend.
Organised and coached by Rikki Wyatt and Julia Greay respectively, the netball team played six games over the weekend, winning all games during the rounds.
The association team was represented by Rikki Wyatt, Rebecca Kelly, Kym King, Emma Moltoni, Hayley Kelly, Emily Greenwood, Jacqui Ord and Gemma Oldfield.
Central Midlands met Eastern Hills in the final and were up by three goals within the first five minutes, but after half time the team found themselves in trouble and down by one goal. Great defence work by Jacqui Ord and Emily Greenwood was unstoppable.
Also with the steady pace of Kym King and Hayley Kelly saw the Central Midlands team move ahead with Rikki Wyatt and Rebecca Kelly converting the goals to bring the team up by four goals at the final siren, what a great effort.
Thank you to Julia Greay who umpired for the team all weekend.
Also a big thank you to the small but wonderful support crew of Carl and Tracey Moltoni and Kay and Richard Vanzetti.
Well done to Central Midlands Netball Association on a wonderful weekend of netball, friendship and fun.
