Six missing canyoning in Blue Mountains

13 Jan, 2010 12:14 PM
Police rescue workers are searching for six people, including two teenage boys, who failed to return from a canyoning trip in the Blue Mountains.

Two men, two women and two boys, believed to be aged 13 and 15, set out on the trip at Mount Wilson about 7.30am yesterday, police said.

Worried relatives called police when the group did not return to their cars, as expected, yesterday afternoon.

A police rescue unit, a Polair helicopter crew and local police are conducting the search.

Mount Wilson is a popular canyoning spot.

Canyoning involves exploring canyons on foot, by climbing, jumping, abseiling or scrambling up or down rock faces.
