A NEW experiment started this week with cricket in the South Midlands Cricket Association as teams took to the field for the shortened Twenty/20 format.
A round robin event was played in the two locations of Miling and Bindoon with the northern teams of Miling, Moora and Dandaragan playing in Miling and Gingin, Muchea and Bindoon playing at Bindoon.
Everyone was excited about the carnival atmosphere the games would generate.
Once everyone arrived it was clear to see that there would still be some serious cricket played by all teams.
With most clubs opting to play in the after match club shirts, a bit of colour was also added to the day.
In what turned out to be some entertaining and exciting cricket, there were some great performances.

Next week’s games
There is a general bye this week for the association Country Cup fixture in Geraldton.
This will see Geraldton, Carnarvon and South Midlands play off in a Twenty/20 round robin fixture.
At this stage Souths may have to pull out as players from all clubs have been non-committal to the event.
