IF Buntine’s Bill Dinnie is not the most recognised bowler in the district he certainly must be one of those with the most accolades.
Last week, at Buntine’s open day, Dinnie had his contribution to the Central Midlands Bowling League, and bowls in general, realised with life membership.
An impressive curriculum vitae sees him on the Bowls WA coaching committee for 17 years along with a service pocket and merit badge from that organisation.
A level two coach since 1980, he adds coaching co-ordinator and secretary for the CMBL to his resume.
A national umpire for 30 years, he has been secretary-treasurer and side manager for the Northern Zone which earned him a certificate of appreciation.
A life member of the Buntine bowling club includes president, secretary and winning the singles championship six times.
The CMBL champion of champions sees him winner of the singles and runner up together with being part of winning pairs and fours combination.
He also has enjoyed being equal third in a Country Week pairs episode.
He is a proud holder of the Order of Australia Medal coming from considerable community involvement, including 44 years as a Dalwallinu Shire councillor, president for 10 and Shire Freeman.
But if there’s room for one more accolade, it should go to his wife Barbara, who supports him in his endeavours.
