Robins end season with fun night

08 Oct, 2009 01:42 PM
THE Robins Hockey Club in Moora celebrated the end of the 2009 hockey season with a black and white themed cocktail night on Friday.

The Moora Hockey clubrooms were beautifully decorated, complete with fairy lights and candelabras, creating a stunning ambience as a group of about 60 people, including patrons, life members, players and supporters, gathered to commemorate the year they’ve had.

Both grades were successful in getting into the grand final but with neither team able to come away with a win, the club still celebrated the year in style with some delicious cocktails, some groovy dancing, a lot of laughter and a great night all round.

In the A Grade, Fairest and Best was awarded to Lara Martin. The runner up was a close fought tussle between four players all on equal votes in Jayde Timmins, Donna Tierney, Amy Henderson and Steph Krakowiak but after a countback runner up Fairest and Best was won by Jayde Timmins.

Most Consistent was awarded to Charlee Borinelli and Brad McCallum’s Coaches Award went to Nicole Cantrill.

In the B Grade, Cathy Cleasby was awarded Fairest and Best, runner up Fairest and Best was Sue Dodd, Most Consistent was Kelly Bruce and the Kathy Cousin’s Coaches Award went to young gun Jaine Magry.

Highest Goal Scorer for A Grade was awarded to Shellee Longman and B Grade Highest Goal Scorer and Overall Highest Goal Scorer, winning the prestigious Jean Jorissen Trophy for the most goals in either A or B Grade, was presented to Lisa Sinclair.

Fairest and Best in the Finals remained consistent with the home and away season with Lara Martin winning the A Grade and Cathy Cleasby the B Grade.

The Esteemed Sam Pense Memorial Trophy for Most Valuable Player was presented to a revered but humbled Donna Tierney.

The Jonica Manuel Memorial Trophy, awarded for the Most Versatile and Courageous Player, went to newcomer Stephanie Krakowiak.

The President’s Award for exceptional service to the club in 2009, was presented to Katrina Lee.

All winners were presented with red sashes expertly hand made by Alison Gibsone along with their trophy which capitulated an awesome colour display within the room.

From an efficient kitchen, scrumptious cocktail nibbles were served throughout the night prepared and delivered under the expertise of Annie Kohlen and Sharron Waters and their team of waitresses.

The club also thanked Grant O’Brien, Robert Rumbold, Len Ritchie, Chantal Joyce and Bobby Wyatt for their contribution to a great night.

Warren and Ronnie Emery were acknowledged for their continued support throughout the senior and junior ranks.
