Labour Day tennis in Moora

THE Moora Districts Tennis Club hosted its annual Labour Day long weekend tennis tournament on February 27 and 28.

Participants travelled from Canning and Coorow to give local tennis stars a run for their money.

On Saturday the men’s and ladies’ doubles were played and the mixed competition was held on Sunday.

Moora women Rebecca McCall and Melissa Cameron defeated Angela and Yanti Vanzetti in the ladies A-grade finals on Saturday and Moora’s David Peake and Michael Longford took the men’s A-grade match against Pat McQuade and Nat Somsat from the Canning Tennis Club.

In the A reserves grade Brett and Troy Beard defeated Coorow’s Vern Muller and Peter Vanzetti.

On Sunday Jenny Ashby and Rob Bellis from Canning won the mixed against Julian Gardiner and Lynne Hurley.

In the plate Jasmine Longford and Ryan Buckeridge of Perth and Green Head defeated Ros Ashby and Dianne Woods of Canning.
