IT was a full and exciting week at the Wongan Hills Golf Club.
Last Tuesday was the club’s open day with 57 ladies representing 18 clubs playing a stableford event sponsored by Wongan Hills Ladies Golf Association.
The weather was fine and mild and the course greening nicely after the rain, all of which was conducive to playing good golf.
After soup, sandwiches and fruit the players contentedly took to the course for the competition.
At the end of play a scrumptious Wongan Hills afternoon tea was served and presentations made.

Prior to the players leaving for home, the Ladies’ president Robin Higgins requested Leslie Oliver to come forward.
Sue Holme read a lengthy resume of positions held in the club and other things Oliver has done for the betterment of the club over many years.
Higgins then announced that Oliver was to be honoured with a life membership of the Wongan Hills Golf Club.
Gloria Basham, the last recipient of this prestigious award in 2002, pinned the life member’s badge on Oliver.
She responded, saying how happy and honoured she was to receive it and it was a total surprise to her.
Oliver had no idea this was to happen and all her family and friend s were in attendance to share it with her.
