SITE works have started on the new medical centre for Wongan Hills.
In what has been a long process, the Wongan Ballidu Shire has secured 4,300 square metres of land from the WA Country Health Service on the north west corner of the existing hospital vacant land.
“We are looking to have the building completed by May, 2010 and the expected cost when finished is $1.7 million,” shire chief executive officer Stuart Taylor said.
“Land for the building of the medical centre is the department’s contribution to the project and has been at no cost to the shire.”
All the planning is complete and tenders accepted, with the Wongan Ballidu Development group being appointed as the developer and JN and YE Panton the builder.
The building will be a steel frame brick veneer construction with a colourbond roof.
