A MOORA woman received a shock early last Sunday evening when police knocked on the door of her McPherson Street home.
Officers told the woman that they wished to see what they believed was a suspicious plant growing in the backyard.
After investigation the officer found a Cannabis plant measuring about 183cm x 183cm flourishing in the yard.
The Cannabis plant that has been seized by police, was being cultivated under protection of shade cloth.
Officer in charge of Moora Police Sergeant Harry Arnott said on Sunday evening he was shovelling and carting sand onto his lawn when he looked towards the west and saw silhouetted against the sunset the plant with its very distinguishable shaped leaf.
“I first thought, no it couldn’t be, and I went on shovelling sand,” Sgt Arnott said.
“But after awhile it got the better of me and I took another look and was pretty sure my suspicions were correct.
“I immediately phoned the officer on duty, Senior Constable Wheeler and had him come and have a look.
“This resulted in officers going to the house to further investigate.”
