EIGHT industrial lots are currently being developed at the Danubin Rise sub-division in Wongan Hills.
The Wongan Ballidu Shire is undertaking the development, opposite the cemetery.
“We have already sold two of the lots and have expression of interest for another three which is a very promising start to the project,” shire chief executive officer Stuart Taylor said.
He said another positive sign for the town is the re-zoning of the school oval, which is land surplus to the school’s requirements, has now been zoned residential which allows Landcorp to be able to sell the land to the shire for future residential development.
“The sale of this land has been in the pipeline for several years now, so it is really pleasing to see the project finally moving.”
Landcorp is the land manager for the agencies to develop the land.
The land will be valued as undeveloped and council now understands that they will be able to negotiate the purchase price of the land.
“There are two plans for the sub-division under council consideration, but no decision has been confirmed,” Mr Taylor said.
“If council is successful in negotiating the purchase of the land, development is not expected to commence before 2011.”
