WESTERN Power has provided more than $6,000 to three volunteer bush fire brigades in the Moora Shire and almost $3,000 to the Warradarge Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade in the Coorow Shire.
The grants are from Western Power’s annual $80,000 sponsorship of volunteer bush fire brigades enabling the purchase of important equipment.
The volunteer bush fire brigades in the Moora Shire to receive grant funds were Bindi Bindi, Koojan and Miling.
The grants from Western Power have provided the brigades with funds to purchase equipment including a tandem trailer, spare wheels, swivel jockey and a purpose built trailer to carry a fast fill pump.
Western Power marketing manager Tracey King said, “Bush fires are a constant threat during summer in Western Australia.
“When a bush fire occurs, there is an immediate danger to communities.
“These grants are in recognition of the volunteer brigades’ invaluable work in protecting lives, property and Western Power electricity infrastructure.”
The Warradarge Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade has received $2,964 for the disconnection and dismantling of existing power and reconnection to a new transformer with switchboard and meter box.
“Western Power is pleased to help the volunteer brigades purchase equipment and we believe it will help the brigades better serve their local community,” Ms King said.
