Fire-fighter cops fine for bushfire help

02 Feb, 2012 02:06 PM
A VOLUNTEER fire fighter from the Gingin West Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade was fined $150 for exceeding the speed limit by nine kilometres per hour while driving a fire truck along the Bussell Highway on the way to help with the Margaret River bushfires late last year.

The volunteers were driving with lights and sirens on at the time and they were driving in a 90 km/h section of the highway.

The fine is being appealed by the group as they were on their way to a bushfire emergency and exemptions are permitted for life threatening emergencies.
