THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe fire danger warning as heatwave weather conditions return to Perth and coastal parts of the Central West.
City of Geraldton and the shires of Carnamah, Chapman Valley, Coorow, Dandaragan, Irwin and Northampton were issued advice warning that bushfires could threaten suddenly and without warning.
Residents are advised to stay alert and watch for signs of fire, especially smoke and flames, and have bushfire survival plans and kits ready.
The conditions are very hot, dry and windy and if a fire starts and takes hold it will be unpredictable, move very fast and difficult for firefighters to bring under control.
After a 31-degree start to the week on Monday, the mercury in Perth is expected to rise to 37 degrees on Wednesday and 36 on Thursday before cooling moderately to 34 degrees on Friday.
The long range forecast for next weekend is for a maximum of 31 degrees for Saturday and 29 degrees Sunday.
