Bushfire burns close to airstrip

A RECENT bushfire, believed to have been started by children playing with firecrackers, near the Wongan Hills airstrip burnt about 2-3ha of tree-grass and scrubland.

The fire started at about 11am on Sunday, February 28 was attended by Fire and Emergency Services personnel from Wongan Hills and Ballidu and a team from the Cadoux-Manmanning Bush Fire Service.

The fire was controlled and all out by about 4pm that afternoon.

There was no property damage to nearby houses.
