ODDS are looking good for the Elders team at next week’s Moora Local Drug Action Group Burnout Bed Race, thanks to some fine handy work and a strong team of runners.
They’ve been pipped at the post for two years’ running in the speed race by the Moora Swimming Club team, but team spokesperson and Elders Insurance officer Vicky Longman said they had a few tricks up their sleeve, including their non-alcoholic drink entry, ‘Yabba Dabba Dew’, that features a rather unusual secret vegetable ingredient.
The team’s bed is missing its trademark Elders red colour, replaced by a finely fashioned Flintstone’s theme, complete with Dino at the back.
The bed was the result of the ‘united capabilities’ of the branch staff, led Darren Hendry and Mrs Longman.
“It’s a great cause, and it’s an event that Elders Moora is always proud to be a part of,” Mrs Longman said.
The December 15 bed race starts at 5.45pm in Dandaragan Street, Moora with up to 14 teams racing to raise much needed funds for chaplaincy in Moora.
Tax deductible donations can be made at the Moora Health Centre.
